Rajini’s highly‑anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, has already crossed the ₹7 crore mark in advance bookings across Kerala, according to industry tracker A B George. The figure was announced on Wednesday, October 14, a day before the film’s worldwide theatrical release. George noted that more than 3,300 shows were available online, and that sales had climbed from the previous day, with further movement expected in the final hours before the film opens.
In a post at 1:05 PM, George highlighted that the first‑day advance sales had reached ₹7 crore. He repeated the milestone at 1:21 PM, pointing out the 3,300+ shows listed online. The tracker compared the advance booking haul with the opening‑day collections of other big‑budget Tamil releases in Kerala, stating that Jailer 2 had already surpassed the opening‑day numbers of several major Tamil films—except for Leo and Coolie—through advance sales alone.
These figures have sparked expectations of a double‑digit opening‑day gross for the film in Kerala. George suggested that Jailer 2 could become the fourth title to achieve such an opening, following Leo, Empuraan and Drishyam 3. However, he cautioned that the projection is an estimate; the final collection will depend on ticket sales, theatre occupancy and audience response after the first screenings.
The sequel, directed and written by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, follows the 2023 Tamil film Jailer. Rajini reprises his role as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, joined by returning cast members Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik. New additions include S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna. The film also features Mohanlal as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha.
Music for Jailer 2 is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with Vijay Kartik Kannan handling cinematography and R. Nirmal editing. The film is slated to hit theatres on Thursday, October 15, and the remaining hours of advance sales will be crucial in determining its final pre‑release numbers.
