Anurag Kashyap Slams Police Action; Weighs in on CJP Protest Controversy

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has joined the chorus of critics after the recent clash between the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protestors and Delhi police near Parliament. The demonstration, which was organised to protest an alleged NEET‑UG paper leak, turned violent, leaving several police officers and demonstrators injured. While the police say the protestors became aggressive after repeated warnings, the students claim that force was used without provocation.

On Instagram, Kashyap posted a cryptic note in Hindi that questioned the morality of police orders. He wrote, “Wardi pehenne ke liye aatma ka, aatmiyta ka, sabka sauda karna padta hai. Maloom nahi tha. Kya ek police wala hai is desh mein jo khada ho ke bol sake main iss aadesh ka palan nahin karoonga kyonki ye galat hai,” which translates to, “I did not know that wearing a uniform requires one to sell their soul, compassion, and everything else. Is there even one police officer in this country who can stand up and say, ‘I will not follow this order because it is wrong’.”

Earlier in the week, Kashyap had shared another terse message: “Ab hadd ho rahi hai,” meaning “This has crossed all limits.” In the accompanying caption he added, “Behre bhi itne behre nahin hotey, aur andhe bhi itne andhe nahin hotey. Jaanwar aur rakshason ke dil bhi itne patthar nahin hotey. Ye unse bhi badtar aadamkhor hain. Chup rehne mein sharam aaney lagi hai,” which he explained as a critique of the silence and perceived moral decay surrounding the incident.

The CJP has been staging protests over the alleged leak of NEET‑UG exam papers, a claim that has drawn widespread attention. The recent confrontation near Parliament has intensified the debate, with politicians and civil society groups weighing in on both the protestors’ grievances and the police’s response. Kashyap’s outspoken stance has added a prominent cultural voice to the ongoing discussion.

As investigations continue and political exchanges flare, the filmmaker’s social‑media commentary underscores the growing frustration among citizens who feel that the state’s actions may be disproportionate. His remarks have sparked further debate on the limits of protest, police accountability, and the role of public figures in shaping public opinion.
