Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub distances himself from Eetha; objects to voice usage without context

Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has taken to social media to clarify that he is not involved in the upcoming Ajay Devgn film Chauhaan, despite his voice appearing in the movie’s teaser. The actor posted a detailed note on his accounts, explaining that he had recorded a line for the makers in good faith, without being told how it would be used.

According to Ayyub, a few weeks ago a teaser for Chauhaan was released with his voice opening the narration. He stated that he had been asked to dub a single line a few months earlier, and because he knew the filmmakers personally, he complied without requesting further details. When he later saw the context in which his voice was used, he asked the producers to remove it. The makers complied fifteen days after his objection, and the voice was taken out of the teaser.

The clarification came about ten days after reports emerged that Ayyub’s voice had been cut from the teaser. While he never named the film in his note, it was widely understood that he was referring to Chauhaan. The film, produced by Jio Studios and directed by Neeraj Yadav, has already sparked controversy over its portrayal of Kashmir residents confronting armed forces, leading to social media debate and resistance.

After the teaser’s release, Ayyub faced online trolling from viewers who noticed his voice and speculated about his involvement in the project. In his statement, he reiterated that he would never be part of a project that he felt was inappropriate, and he urged the public to focus on the current student protests in the country. He concluded with a patriotic note: “Kudos to their inspiring spirit. JAI HIND, JAI SAMVIDHAN.”

The actor’s post underscores the importance of clear communication between filmmakers and voice artists. It also highlights the broader controversy surrounding Chauhaan, which has been at the center of public discourse since its teaser was unveiled.
