Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub clarifies he is not part of Ajay Devgn starrer Chauhaan; voice controversy resolved

Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has publicly clarified that he has no involvement with the upcoming Ajay Devgn‑starrer Chauhaan, after his voice was heard in the film’s teaser. The actor posted a detailed statement on social media, explaining that he had recorded a single line for the makers in good faith, unaware of how it would be used. He added that once the teaser was released and he saw the context in which his voice was employed, he asked the filmmakers to remove it, and they complied fifteen days later.

In his note, Ayyub wrote: “Few weeks back, a film teaser released with the opening line in my voice. I wish to put on record that I am not part of the film in any capacity. I was asked to dub a line without any reference a few months back. I did that in good faith without asking for more as I knew the makers personally. As soon as the teaser was released and I saw the context in which it was (mis)used, I asked the filmmakers to remove my voice from the teaser as I have nothing to do with the film.” The actor also mentioned that his voice had been removed from the updated teaser about ten days after the initial controversy.

The clarification comes amid a broader backlash against Chauhaan, which has faced criticism for its portrayal of people in Kashmir confronting armed forces. The film, produced by Jio Studios and directed by Neeraj Yadav, features Ajay Devgn in a new avatar and has sparked debate on social media. Ayyub’s statement was posted on July 21, 2026, and he ended his message by urging the public to focus on the ongoing student protests in the country, praising the “inspiring spirit” of the young activists.

Despite the controversy, the makers of Chauhaan have removed Ayyub’s voice from the teaser and continue to promote the film. The actor reiterated that he would never be part of a project that he feels misrepresents sensitive subjects, and he emphasized his desire to distance himself from any such association. The incident highlights the importance of clear communication between actors and filmmakers when voice work is involved.
