Huma Qureshi joins Jantar Mantar protest; shows solidarity with students

On Thursday morning, actors Huma Qureshi, Saqib Saleem and Rachit Singh were seen marching with students at Jantar Mantar, the iconic protest site in New Delhi. The trio joined a growing list of celebrities who have backed the student movement demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the education system.

Video footage shared by vlogger Syed Umair Ali captured the actors walking beside the demonstrators at 2:13 a.m. Huma was dressed in a black top and jeans, smiling as she moved through the crowd, while Saqib walked beside her. Rachit, in a casual white shirt, occasionally took Huma’s hand, and the three of them were seen marching together. The actors had recently collaborated on the film Baby Do Die Do, produced under their banner.

The protests, led by the Cockroach Janta Party, have drawn thousands of students across Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. They are calling for Pradhan’s resignation after accusations of manipulating the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, a major medical entrance exam. Pradhan has dismissed the movement as a political ploy, accusing the Congress party of using students as tools to create disruption.

Earlier this week, tensions escalated when police used batons and tear gas to disperse crowds, and senior opposition leaders were forcibly removed from a sit‑in outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. The student movement vows to continue until Pradhan steps down, asserting that they will fight and win together.
