On July 15, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming epic film Ramayana, granting it a ‘U’ certificate. The trailer, which runs for an impressive 4 minutes and 15 seconds, is set to be the third promotional asset released by the makers before the film’s debut on Diwali 2026.
Unlike typical trailers that last around two to three minutes, Ramayana’s promo stretches over four minutes, a detail that has already sparked curiosity among fans. The CBFC’s official website lists two entries for the same trailer: one titled ‘Trailer – Ramayana 3D’ lasting 4 minutes and 15 seconds, and another called ‘Theatrical Trailer – Ramayana 3D’ with a duration of 4 minutes. It remains to be seen which version will premiere on digital platforms.
The film’s promotional strategy began last year with the introduction asset released on July 3, followed by a teaser titled ‘Rama’ on April 2, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti. The teaser, 2 minutes and 38 seconds long, also received a ‘U’ certificate from the CBFC. Both assets have helped build momentum for the project.
Ramayana brings together a star-studded cast: Ranbir Kapoor portrays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash takes on the role of Ravana, Sunny Deol embodies Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey appears as Lakshman. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal (2016), and produced by Namit Malhotra. Music is a collaboration between A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, adding a global flair to the score.
Directed as a two-part saga, the first installment is slated for release during the Diwali celebrations of 2026, with the second part scheduled for Diwali 2027. The film’s extensive production team and high-profile cast have generated significant buzz, making the CBFC’s approval of the trailer a key milestone in the project’s promotional timeline.
