The teaser of Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming period drama Eetha, which was paired with the trailer of Cocktail 2, has generated a strong buzz, boosting anticipation for the film. Originally slated for release on August 28, the movie’s launch date has been put on hold, according to a source speaking to Bollywood Hungama. The producers, Maddock Films, are reportedly weighing whether to move the release earlier or push it back, but they are certain that the film will not hit screens on the original date.
Until last week, four films were set to hit theaters in the final week of August. The first to secure the coveted slot was Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, a sequel featuring Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas, Tara Sharma and others. The makers of The Vvan also announced a release on August 28, while the Sidharth Malhotra‑Tamannaah Bhatia starrer was rescheduled to September 25. Earlier, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown‑Ups was slated for August 26, creating a crowded calendar that likely forced some films to reconsider their dates.
According to the source, there is industry chatter that the producers of Eetha want to avoid a clash with Toxic, a film that could also perform strongly at the box office. Both movies are expected to draw large crowds, and a simultaneous release could split audiences in key markets such as Maharashtra, where Eetha is projected to have a robust run.
Eetha stars Shraddha Kapoor as the legendary Marathi Tamasha performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, known for Chhaava (2025), and also features Randeep Hooda and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub. Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, the movie’s final release date remains undecided. If the release is preponed, it could land during the Independence Day weekend or even as early as August 7, though that slot is currently booked for Maddock’s Prahaar, which might need to shift. If postponed, a September release is a possibility.
For now, fans and industry watchers are awaiting an official announcement from Maddock Films, which is expected to reveal the new date within the next few days. The decision will likely hinge on avoiding competition with other high‑profile releases and maximizing box‑office potential for both Eetha and its contemporaries.
