Cinema VinesJanhvi Kapoor is poised to deliver a touching homage to her late mother, the legendary actress Sridevi, at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2027. The ceremony, scheduled for January 22 and 23 at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, is expected to feature a special performance that will bring the late star’s legacy back into the spotlight.
Andre Timmins, co‑founder of the IIFA, confirmed the plan during an interview with ANI. He said the actress is thrilled about the opportunity and that her father, producer Boney Kapoor, is even more excited. “Janhvi will pay tribute to her mother, Sridevi, who was a brilliant artist that we had on this planet,” Timmins told the portal. “I think that’s the only tribute right now, and she’s excited about it and more than her, her father, Boney, is more excited about it, so I think it’ll be exciting.”
If the tribute is incorporated into the final programme, it will combine Janhvi’s personal connection to Sridevi with the late actress’s enduring impact on Hindi cinema. Sridevi, who worked across multiple languages and genres, remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated performers.
Janhvi has also expressed enthusiasm about returning to IIFA after her debut performance there. She recalled the energy of her first appearance, saying, “My first IIFA performance in Abu Dhabi will always hold a very special place in my heart. I remember the excitement, the nerves and the incredible energy of that night, and to now return to the IIFA stage feels like coming back with so much more love and excitement.” She added that the event “brings together artists, audiences and the global Indian community through something we all love, cinema.”
Beyond the tribute, Janhvi Kapoor is set to appear in the upcoming film Lag Jaa Gale alongside Lakshya and Tiger Shroff. She also has an untitled project directed by Umesh Bisht, featuring Sreeleela, and other projects in the pipeline.
With the 27th edition of IIFA approaching, the possibility of Janhvi honoring Sridevi adds an emotional layer to the celebrations. Further details about the performance are awaited, but fans can expect a memorable moment that will resonate long after the lights go down.
