Ramayana 2 pushed to 2028; Ranbir Kapoor and Yash set for Diwali 2028 release

The epic film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, was originally slated for a two‑part release on the Diwali holidays of 2026 and 2027. However, insiders have revealed that the second installment has been postponed to Diwali 2028, according to a reliable source that spoke exclusively to Bollywood Hungama.

Director Namit Malhotra, who is determined to deliver an unprecedented cinematic experience to Indian audiences, confirmed that while the first part is set to hit screens imminently, the second part requires additional shooting time. He emphasized that the true scale of the story unfolds in the second film, where the climactic “Yudh” takes place.

The delay is attributed to the extended time needed for action design. Malhotra and co‑director Nitesh Tiwari aimed to craft original action sequences that would rival those of global cinema. “We want to leave a global mark with Ramayana,” Malhotra said, noting that the production budget will reach ₹3,000 crore, a figure that will be evident in every frame of the franchise.

Malhotra expressed confidence that the new release date will be announced in the post‑credits scene of the first part during its Diwali 2026 premiere. The response to the film’s launch has been overwhelmingly positive, with box‑office projections already promising fireworks for the Diwali weekend.

Fans of the series can look forward to a grander spectacle in the 2028 release, as the makers continue to refine the epic’s second chapter while maintaining their vision of elevating an Indian story to a global platform.
