Sai Pallavi on Playing Sita in Ramayana; 'Not Easy to Play Goddess'

At a launch event in New Delhi, the Pratham Sankalp ceremony marked the beginning of the promotional campaign for Nitesh Tiwari’s two‑part epic Ramayana. The gathering, held on a Saturday, brought together the film’s cast and crew along with guests from the realms of cinema and spirituality. The event also featured the unveiling of the first trailer, which is scheduled to debut worldwide on July 24.

During the ceremony, director Nitesh Tiwari praised the performances of Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor, who portray Sita and Ram respectively. He remarked that the actors’ eyes reveal truth, noting the sincerity he observed in both Sai and Ranbir, and stated that in his mind he sees only the characters of Sita and Ram on screen.

Sai Pallavi, who plays the goddess Sita, explained that accepting such a role is not something an actor can simply chase. She said, “It’s not easy for actors to get roles like this. Because it’s not easy to play a Goddess. There must be a team putting their heart and soul into making it the best version.” She added that she felt blessed to be chosen for the part and that she approaches the role with meditation and a pure mindset to deliver the best version of herself.

The film, produced by Namit Malhotra, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Yash as Ravana. Other notable actors such as Sunny Deol, Kajal Aggarwal, and Vivek Oberoi also feature in key roles. The first installment is slated for release during Diwali 2026, with the second part scheduled for Diwali 2027.

With its ambitious scope and high‑profile cast, Ramayana has become one of India’s most anticipated releases. The promotional material has already impressed audiences, and the upcoming trailer is expected to further build excitement as the film’s release approaches.
