Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta star in ‘Last Man in Tower’; Hindi‑Zee 5 to debut it on Nov 6

Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta are set to headline the Hindi drama Last Man in Tower, which will stream on Hindi Zee 5 on November 6. The film, directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, adapts Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name.

The story unfolds in a Mumbai housing society where a redevelopment plan sparks fierce debate among residents. Retired physics teacher Yogesh Mishra, played by Bajpayee, refuses to vacate his apartment despite the lucrative offer that the rest of the community has accepted. His stubborn stance pits him against neighbours and friends, forcing the audience to question the morality of his choice.

Divya Dutta portrays Sangita Puri, a housewife who seeks a better life for her special‑needs son. Her aspirations clash with Yogesh’s attachment to the home, adding another layer of conflict. Boman Irani takes on the role of developer Dharmen Shah, who pushes the redevelopment project forward, creating tension between progress and preservation.

Bajpayee explained that the character’s ambiguity drew him to the project. “What drew me to Last Man in Tower was the complexity of Yogesh Mishra. He is a man who stands firmly by his beliefs, yet the story leaves you questioning whether he is right or wrong,” he said. He noted that the film reflects Mumbai’s constant reshaping, where old buildings give way to new ones, and it examines the human side of that change.

Dutta highlighted the film’s nuanced approach to conflict. “What drew me to Last Man in Tower was the way it explores human behaviour and the choices people make without viewing them through a simple lens of right and wrong,” she said. She added that audiences understood her character’s motivations even if they disagreed with her actions, which she found rewarding.
