Cinema VinesR Madhavan’s upcoming Tamil biopic, GDN, has just received a fresh push toward its theatrical debut. A new poster bearing the caption “Release Date Announcement Coming Soon!” was released by the makers, signalling that the official release date will be revealed shortly. The poster also highlights the film’s tagline, “Based on a True Story,” and underscores that the film will be released in multiple languages.
In addition to its original Tamil version, GDN is slated to hit screens in dubbed versions of Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, allowing the story of legendary Indian inventor and industrialist G. D. Naidu to reach audiences across the country. While the production team has not yet confirmed a date, BookMyShow currently lists the film for an August 7, 2026 release – a date that should be treated as provisional until an official announcement is made.
Produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Tricolour Films, the biographical drama is written and directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, with the screenplay co‑developed by the director and R Madhavan. Govind Vasantha has composed the music, and the cast features a wide array of talent, including Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani, Dushara Vijayan, Vinay Rai, Thambi Ramaiah, Nandalal, TeeJay Arunasalam, Sheela, Karunakaran, Muralidaran, Aditi Balan, Mohan Raman, Kaniha, Ramesh Tilak, Carl Andrew Harte and Richard Bhakti Klein.
The makers clarify that GDN will not attempt to cover the entirety of Naidu’s life. Instead, the film focuses on a pivotal period that showcases his determination, vision and the obstacles he faced while pushing technological innovation forward. Set against a transformative era in India’s history, the narrative follows Naidu’s efforts to introduce new ideas in the face of resistance from powerful authorities, drawing from documented real‑life incidents.
With the release date announcement still pending, fans of R Madhavan and Indian biographical cinema are encouraged to keep an eye on official channels for the forthcoming details. Until then, the August 7, 2026 date listed on BookMyShow remains tentative, pending confirmation from the production team.
