Atharvaa’s Tamil coming‑of‑age romance Idhayam Murali has continued to build on its opening weekend, posting a steady climb in earnings as Sunday crowds pushed the film higher on the box‑office chart. The movie opened in theatres on July 10 and, by its third day, had collected an estimated ₹3.50 crore net across 1,523 screens, according to the tracking site Sacnilk. This represents an 11.1% jump from the ₹3.15 crore earned on Day 2.
With Sunday’s surge, the film’s cumulative India net collection reached ₹8.55 crore after three days, while the gross tally is estimated at ₹9.83 crore. The first Friday saw a modest ₹1.90 crore, but Saturday’s takings rose to ₹3.15 crore and Sunday topped the weekend with ₹3.50 crore, marking the highest single‑day haul to date. Occupancy figures mirrored the trend, starting at 30% on opening day across 1,283 shows, climbing to 43% on Saturday with 1,375 screens, and hitting 46% on Sunday over 1,523 shows.
Directed, co‑written, and produced by Aakash Baskaran under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali boasts a technical team that includes cinematographers Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai, editor Pradeep E. Ragav, production designer M.R. Karthik Rajkumar, and dialogue writer Ramanagirivasan. The cast features Atharvaa in the lead, supported by Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan, with additional performances from Natty Subramaniam, Ramki, Thaman S, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar, and Pragya Nagra. A cameo appearance by Fahadh Faasil adds further star power.
As the film enters its fourth day on Monday, analysts and fans alike will be watching closely to see whether the momentum gained over the opening weekend can be sustained through the weekdays. The Day 4 collections are expected to provide a clearer picture of the film’s staying power in the competitive Tamil‑film market.
