The second track from Geetu Mohandas’ upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown‑Ups has been unveiled, adding a new layer to the movie’s already complex narrative. Titled “Manmohaka,” the 3‑minute and 14‑second romantic number was released on Tuesday, following the earlier hit “Tabaahi.” The song showcases Yash in a tender, love‑struck role, this time paired with Tara Sutaria’s character, while hints of his lingering affection for Kiara Advani’s character surface in the lyrics and visuals.
In the music video, Yash’s character Raya and Tara’s Rebecca share a series of intimate moments, including a bathtub scene where Rebecca expresses a desire for Raya to propose. Their chemistry is evident as they head out on dates, with both characters appearing enamored. However, the mood shifts when Raya’s interactions with Nayanthara’s Ganga, rumored to be his sister, bring a contemplative tone. A cigarette exchange between the two reveals the underlying tension, and the narrative suggests that Yash’s hesitation is tied to Kiara’s character Nadia, whom he also seems to be attracted to.
The promotional campaign for Toxic has hinted at Raya’s possible polygamist tendencies. Tara Sutaria teased the song’s release on Instagram Stories, asking whether monogamy is a societal norm or a personal choice, while director Geetu Mohandas reposted the teaser, announcing the official release date of August 26 and teasing that the heart will “make you sing to its own tune.”
Musically, “Manmohaka” is a collaboration between Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami, with vocals by Siddharth Basrur. The track has been adapted into multiple languages: “Madhosh” in Hindi, “Manasagadhe” in Telugu, “Thadumaarudheyyy” in Tamil, and “Madhu Mohini” in Malayalam.
Reactions online have been mixed. Some users on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit expressed confusion over the film’s plot, questioning whether Yash’s character is cheating or simply navigating complex emotions. Comparisons with the earlier song “Tabaahi” were frequent, with some praising “Manmohaka” as superior, while others felt it did not measure up to the first track. Despite the divided opinions, the song has sparked discussion about the film’s thematic focus on love, violence, and societal expectations.
With a release date set for August 26, Toxic features a star‑packed cast that includes Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. Fans of the ensemble can look forward to a cinematic experience that blends romance, drama, and the titular theme of toxicity in modern relationships.
