At the 72nd National Film Awards, the Tamil film Amaran took home three prestigious honors, including Best Director for Rajkumar Periasamy, Best Music Direction for GV Prakash, and Best Editing for R Kalaivannan. The awards, presented in 2024, recognize the film’s powerful portrayal of Indian Army soldiers and their families.

Periasamy expressed heartfelt gratitude on X, noting that the National Award had been a lifelong dream. He thanked the jury, the cast, the crew, and dedicated the award to Major Mukund Varadarajan’s family and all soldiers. He also praised his editor, music composer, and co‑stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, who play Major Mukund and Indhu Rebecca Varghese, respectively.
